Student Run Tech Desk


Over the last two years we have run a Tech Desk most fornights during alunch break for students in Middle and Senior School. 

What is the Tech Desk?

The Tech Desk is a student run IT help desk (similar to an Apple genius bar) where students or teachers can drop by and receive help and support with iPads, the Learning Gateway or any other IT issues you may have. 

Key roles include:

  • providing hardware (iPad etc.) and software (Learning Gateway etc.) support for students and staff
  • sharing of your tech knowledge and solving tech problems for others
  • finding new ways of doing things, new educational apps etc.
  • being a peer mentor in class
  • teaching students and teachers about Hardware (iPad etc.) and Software (Learning Gateway etc.)
  • participating/leading hands-on workshops, projects etc.
  • creation of advertising/information posters etc. and websites in relation to the Tech Desk
  • involvement of a collaborative online network for creating and sharing of knowledge
  • help spreading the word about new technologies/Apps

In 2016 we are looking at growing the Tech Desk with more members and a focus on Middle School students and teachers.
